Jaxon Breaks His Silence!!

For the last 3-4 weeks, Jaxon has been saying "ba-ba" and "uh-oh!" I heard him babbling and it sounded like uh-oh and then I started saying it back and he would repeat it exactly the way I pronounced it. Now he will randomly say it and it sound so cute hearing his little voice!

The big news is that he said "MA-MA" yesterday! YAY!! We have been practicing "ma-ma" and "da-da," but he chose to say "ma-ma" first... I promise it had nothing to do with the practice time allocated for each! :) He had just gotten up from his nap and he was babbling and I just repeated what he was saying. Then I stopped and said to myself, "Did he just say ma-ma??" Of course when I kept repeating it to him, he wouldn't say it. I thought I must have imagined him saying it and he was really saying ba-ba. Then later that night he started saying it again and Dave was there to witness. He doesn't know what he's saying or who he's talking about, but of course I felt so proud!! He knows who "da-da" is and will look at Dave when we say it, but we are still working on who "ma-ma" actually is!!

As for his walking skills, he is one laid back little man! He loves to stand up, but will not cruise or take any steps. If he wants something, he plops back down to his bottom and crawls his little heart out to get it. Even if I hold his hands to walk, he picks his feet up and refuses to hold any of his weight. That is another example of how opposite he is from Mason. Mason didn't think crawling was fast enough for him, so he decided he wanted to run, not walk!! I'm sure many of you can remember when Mason was a little bitty baby and he would bounce in your lap if you were holding him. There was never a moment that child could sit still... that hasn't changed! :)

I'm sure in few weeks I'm going to be posting another update about Jaxon walking. Then again, with Mason as entertainment he may be as happy as can be sitting and watching his big brother do all of the work!

Cute Story

Yesterday, we went to this Kid Expo with the playgroup. Mason had a great time and afterwards a few of us decided to get something to eat. Just as as I come out with our food, Mason is sobbing in his seat and holding his hand. "Mason, what happened?" He won't answer me. I look at his hand and don't see anything. As you know, Mason is my drama queen and can go on and on about a boo-boo that may or may not exist!! :) By now it is about 1:30-2pm which is beyond naptime, so I know he's exhausted anyways. I get a togo bag for our food and say goodbye to everyone, as Mason is still crying...at this point it's more of the attention, "fake" wine he is so good at! I really need to get him into acting!

When we get into the car and I have calmed him down, I asked what happened? He tells me he got a splinter and doesn't want me to look at it. They were sitting under this cabana type umbrella. So before we even get to the highway, he is passed out! We get home, he eats his lunch and goes to sleep... until 6pm!! I didn't even pursue the splinter because I knew he was exhausted! When he gets up, he comes downstairs and says, "Mom, I want to get my splinter out!" I go get the tweezers and he starts to cry. I tell him he can do it, so he holds them and says, "No, mom you do it!" I begin and he won't give me his hand and starts to cry. Me: Mason, I don't have to do it. He walks off crying.

A minute later, "Mom, I'm ready for you to do it." I begin again and he starts grabbing his hand and making this nervous cry sound. Me: Mase, I really don't have to do it if you don't want me too. He walks off again crying.

Another minute later... he comes down with his blanket and says, "Mom, I'm ready now. I have my blanket." We try again and he starts to cry again. Me: Mase, why don't you try putting the blanket over your head so you don't have to look? Mason, "Ok!" Nope, still doesn't work and he goes off crying again! He did this probably 5 times and every time I had to hold back from laughing. It was so cute how brave he was trying to be and was just so scared and nervous! I definitely wasn't going to force him to do it at this point!

One last time he comes down, "Ok, mom!" Takes a deep breath... "No more crying. I'm ready for you to do it!" Me: Okay, take a deep breath! I'm holding his hand as he starts the nervous cry and then stops and takes a deep breath as I'm able to grab the splinter and pull it out just in time! All done! Mason: Mom, I was such a big boy! I just took a deep breath and you pulled my splinter out! Thanks, mom for getting my splinter!

Too cute!! My little baby has turned into a brave little boy!!

The Numbers Don't Lie!!!

Jaxon had his 2 doctor's appointments this week. His eye is getting a little better, but Dr. Shivaram says that there are a small percentage of babies that the duct never develops on it's own at all. Since Ella was born with the Bilateral Congenial Cataracts, he wanted to dilate his eyes and check everything just to be sure. He said there wouldn't be any link between the two, but wanted to check the optic nerve and lens to be safe. All is well...optic nerve was nice and strong and the lens was clear! Jaxon was SUCH a good baby, staring at the light and watching the doctor. Even after he put 6 drops in his eye, Jaxon sat so still and then the last drop, he let out 1 scream and was fine! We have another appointment in May, but Dr. Shivaram says we can decide to do the surgery before then if we don't want to wait for another check-up. We are debating because it does seem to be getting better and I don't want to have to put him under if it's not necessary. He said he would go in to the hospital at 6am and would be finished by abt 9am and that he'd go ahead and do both since he would have him under anesthesia. We will update once we've made a decision!

On a side note... Dr. Shivaram reminded me of Zach Allen everytime he smiled and then in the waiting room, I saw the other doctor pass by, Dr. McDermott and he looked just like Talmadge!! So strange... I felt like I was back in Texas!

As for his 9mth check-up...
Weighing in at 22lb 13oz and 28 1/2 inches tall... Jaxon "The Chunk" Bader!!
He is actually slowing down with the LBs...now in the 75% for weight instead of 90%. I guess our dreams of having a future Sumo Wrestler are now crushed!! He is still at the 50% for height, so we will have to start stretching him if he is going to make our new dream come true... NBA superstar!!

As for Mason, he had his playgroup Valentine's Day party yesterday at our house. There was about 15 moms and abt 20 kids... can you say CHAOS!! It was a lot of fun and the best part was that it was potluck, so I didn't have any dishes to do!! Dave came home for the last hour of it and just stood back watching. He said, "I feel like I'm at the Lloyd's house again!" He was secretly loving every minute of it!

Mason has his school Valentine's Day party tomorrow that we will be going to and then Mom and Dad get a special night out on Friday night...with NO KIDS! YAY! Speaking of which, Dave sent me 3 dozen roses today for Valentine's Day and we all know how Dave feels about flowers...they are a waste of money since they die in 3 days! So it was a WONDERFUL surprise to get them!

One last update... Mason is signed up to play soccer starting in April, so look for lots of great stories and pictures to come!

That's all for now! Hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Mason Update... the Ham in the family!

It looks like we have a ham in the family! He went from hating his picture taken, to "Mom, take a picture of me doing this!" and "Mom, let me see my picture!" He is growing up so fast and seeing him next to Jaxon makes me notice it more every day. He can officially write his first name all by himself, can now recognize letters and numbers that are written out, knows the Pledge of Allegiance, uses the computer by himself and can control the mouse, and many more things that I am learning each day! It amazes me how much he has stored in his little brain. He doesn't forget a thing, either! Yesterday he told me, "Mom, next time we go to Ogie's house, she has to put the penguin toy on the computer." This was a McDonald's toy that he got in Dallas over Thanksgiving and I have no idea how he remembers these things! If we tell him something, he will remind us later that we told him he could do something, so we have to be careful with what we say. I have also noticed that he listens to my phone conversations b/c he asks me questions when I get off the phone about what I said on the phone. It blows my mind!!

In addition to all of this learning, he is an amazing big brother to Jaxon. He plays a little rough with him, which luckily Jaxon can take and will start yelling if Mason is bothering him! Besides that, he is so caring towards him and loves to kiss and hug him. My favorite is when he says, "Oh, Jax don't cry! Sshh, it's okay!" It melts my heart to see them two interact together! Of course, Jaxon is just staring up at his big brother, with a big smile on his face! Priceless!

Jaxon update...aka The Chunk!

In addition to crawling a mile a minute, Jaxon is now pulling up onto everything. In just 1 mth, he went from rolling around everywhere, to army crawl, full out crawl and now is pulling up. The funny thing is that once he's up, he doesn't know how to get back down, so he stands there yelling or crying for someone to come help him. He will be walking before I know it and then my already busy days are going to get even busier!

He is eating table food now in addition to his baby food and bottles. I swear he eats more than Mason does. We are lucky if Mason eats half of his dinner and Jaxon has already had a container of baby food, some finger foods and will start to eat off of Mason's plate once he's finished! Plus, to top it off he gets a 7oz bottle at bedtime and cries when it's gone!! He is a true Bader...loves food just like his daddy! He goes to the Ophthalmologist for his tear duct and the Pediatrician next week, so I will update his status next week! Any bets on his weight?? I'm thinking we are still in the 90% for weight, but he seems to be getting taller... we'll see! Hopefully he won't stay in the 50% for height... Dave would be so upset! :)

His morning ritual...Toys and TV! He LOVES Dora!
When she comes on, he stops what he's doing and squeals.
Then, he stares at the TV making all kinds of funny noises!
Surprise, Mom! Look what I can do!

I got up...now help me get down!

My Cuties!!

Wow, they are growing up so fast!

Splish, Splash I was taking a bath!

NEW PICTURES!!!

I know I have been horrible lately with postings on the blog. Things have been a bit crazy since Christmas, so hopefully after mid-February things will slow down for a while. Here are some recent pictures from January. Katie and Jeremy came to visit and brought Jaxon's future girlfriend, Caroline Rose. Of course, we forgot to get pictures of them together!! Enjoy!
