The Hair Salon put this together for Jax. A before and after shot and a lock of hair! He even got a certificate! He was such a big boy, but I did have to pull out a lollipop at the end. His hair looks a lot blonder once they cut it. I know it looks red in this picture, but I think it's just the picture. He looks like a little nerd with it combed over to the side and a silly grin on his face! :) Sunday, May 3, 2009

Update on the Bader Boys!
Jaxon:
As we all know, my baby boy is now a 1 year old! We had a fun birthday party for him at My Gym that Mimi and Pops were able to join us for! Thank you to everyone for the cards and gifts... this child is beyond spoiled!! No, he is not walking, but that is OK! He is a little chicken... another difference from his brother. The boy can cruise around like no other, but when you stand him in front of you and let go, he plops right down on his bottom! He will stand on his own and then once he realizes what he is doing, he decides it's better to be closer to the ground! He loves the steps, which is a lot of fun for mommy. It's so funny to watch him go up b/c he gets on the first step and then looks at you like, "I know I'm not supposed to be doing this, but let's see if you are going to let me anyways!" Then, he will actually come down, feet first! I was so surprised that he did it that way the first time. He would get on the platform and look over like, "Wow,that's a pretty long drop! I better turn around and go down feet first!" He is even cautious when he's coming down, going slowly and looking over his shoulder to make sure there is a step there for him! It's too cute! We made the official switch from formula to whole milk and he's eating majority table food. He's babbling lots... mama, dada, baba, uh-oh and teetoo (which we think is thank you) and many other things in his own made up language!
He had his 12mth check-up at the doctors. He may not have the nickname, Chunk for much longer b/c he is getting taller and thinning down a bit! He's still a BIG BOY, though: 24lb 2oz (75%) and 30 1/4 inches (just below 75%). Dr. Ambrose was once again very impressed with his social skills and how outgoing he, especially to him (being the bad guy most of the time). Speaking of which, Jax had to get 4 shots- poor little guy! One in each arm, one in his thigh and a TB test in his forearm! He has never screamed this bad before and it made me get teary eyed seeing him so upset! Luckily, I was able to hold him in my lap the entire time and could cuddle him right after it was finished.
Mason:
Well, we have had 2 soccer games... the first one didn't go so well! He is so pumped in practice and used to stealing the ball and scoring. The first team we played was really aggressive and bigger then our team. Every time one of them would get the ball, they would end up tackling them and piling up on each other or taking the ball from him. Mason DID NOT like that and would come over crying, not wanting to play. He really wasn't into it before the game started, so I knew it was going to be a tough game for all of us! The coach wanted him at least out on the field w/ the team, not necessarily kicking the ball. He was able to do that, but would get so pumped and go after the ball, then the same thing would happen...come back sobbing! Yes, my kid was the whiny one that day!! :) The next game we decided I wouldn't go b/c he tends to act differently when I am there. We made a deal that there would be no whining and if he falls down, "We get right back up and try again!" He did great! It helped that the other team was on our same level...you know, some kids wandering around, picking grass, and not really into the soccer game! Mason like it that way b/c he was able to get the ball and score a bunch of times.
So that same thing had been happening at school... having fits when I would drop him off. Not just crying, but screaming, hitting and running after me. I know this last month we have had a busy month and have been out of the normal routine since we were in MD for a few weeks and then had family in town after that. We started back on the behavior chart and he's been doing great with that. This past Thursday he walked right into class w/ a hug from me and a wave! It was so much easier and nice to walk out without a screaming child chasing after you. He got a big boy sticker from his teacher and a glittery sticker on his chart, plus time to play with his electric train. Hopefully, we will stay on this good behavior track at least for a little bit!! :)
That is all for the Bader Boys! It's been a little chilly in Southern CA (I say that meaning high 60s/70s), but we are ready for the 80s to hit so we can play outside more and get to the beach.
